First things first, welcome to my blog! I’m not exactly sure how you found your way here, but I’m glad you did. Talking about yourself is always an awkward moment. It’s like a dude texting his crush, “Good morning, Beautiful,” and they reply with, “Hey, Buddy!.”

I can be summed up by the three photos above. Dad. Soldier. Writer.

Being a dad is an incredible feeling. Maybe I got lucky with the two children I have. For those of you who know me personally, you might be questioning the second child. Don’t worry, this isn’t a big reveal post or anything, but I’d be doing myself a disservice if I didn’t count my dog, Chicago. He may not be human, but he’s still my son. For the new readers, I have a five year old son and three year old dog. You will receive a heavy dose of stories and moments that involve the two.

I’ve been in the Army since 2013 and am currently a reservist. I joined the day I showed up to work and saw two recruiters in the mall parking lot. The rest is history. I completed BCT at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, went to AIT at Fort Eustis, Virginia, and joined the Transportation Corps. In a nutshell, I’m trained to move weight in a plethora of vehicles. During my time in the Army, I’ve met some great people, friends, leaders, and mentors. As much as people shit talk the military, I’d be willing to say it has both saved and complicated my life. But, that’s a story for another day.

Writing isn’t exactly new to me. I have a love/hate relationship with it. I enjoy the beauty of words and how they have the ability to make you feel one way or another. Words can bring you joy, pain, and everything in between. It’s also complicated. Writing is difficult. Trying to write the perfect piece, knowing others will critique it and inevitably have something to say, is a tough pill to swallow. By no means am I a perfectionist, but I put effort into my work. I’ve finally made up my mind to post what I post, no matter how other people may feel about it. As long as I am happy with it, that’s all that matters.

I want to avoid giving away too much of who I am, as you’ll have to subscribe and continue to get all the goods. My goal as a writer is to get better at writing. I want to write consistently. I want to post frequently. I will post my poetry, my short stories, and my take on current events. I will post what speaks to me. I encourage you all to subscribe to stay up-to-date with all my latests posts.
